Lord's Prayer

"I will be glad and rejoice in your love" Psalm 31:7
"Pray to God, and he will hear you." Job 22:27

Bible Story

Invite your child to answer each question before reading the next paragraph.

The sun crept up in the sky, brighter and brighter. It was time to get up! Jesus' friends rubbed their eyes. They yawned and stretched. They looked around. They didn't see Jesus. WHERE COULD HE BE?

Jesus' friends went out to look for Him. They called and walked. They walked and they called. Finally, they came to a quiet place, away from people. That'''s where Jesus was! BUT WHAT WAS HE DOING?

Jesus was praying! His friends were glad to find Him! They wanted Jesus to come with them. But they wanted something else, too. WHAT DID THEY WANT?

Jesus' friends didn't know how to pray the way Jesus prayed. Jesus' friends asked Him to teach them how to pray! WHAT DID JESUS TELL HIS FRIENDS?

Jesus told His friends, "When you pray, pray like this: Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, They will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into to temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen."  WHAT NAME DID JESUS TELL HIS FRIENDS TO CALL GOD?

Jesus told His friends to call God their Father. He told His friends to ask God, our Father in Heaven, for whatever they need. WHEN CAN WE TALK TO GOD?   Anytime!

Jesus Chooses Helpers

This Sunday, Feb 1st the topic was "Jesus Chooses Helpers". Matthew 4:18-22
I had an awesome time with the kids. They are so smart and they understand so much. What was very interesting , they all felt that their father's and mother's jobs were VERY important and if Jesus told them to "Come, and follow me" and leave everything behind that that would NOT happen. And I am sure they are right. We talked a little bit about the "cost " of following Jesus. That there are things we have to give up when we decide to follow Jesus. But I am not sure if they got that point YET.
One little girl girl said this during the class: "I know all about Jesus, because my heart is after him!!!!!!!!!". She is 41/2 years old. Her heart is after Jesus. That is awesome. Is your heart after Jesus?
The memory verse for this week is "'Come, follow me,' Jesus said." Matthew 4:19
Have a great week! I love you all!

10:45 a.m. Kindergarten Class, Nov. 30, 2008

We had the best time catching up today on what everyone did for Thanksgiving.  We created a "fun day" with Thanksgiving crafts and games.  We discussed the pilgrims and why they came to America, along with why they felt Thankful for the freedom for religion and for God.  We enjoyed Thanksgiving Bingo, made colorful stand up turkeys, and everyone also had a choice of other fun pilgrim and indian crafts.

Additionally, we colored our mugs to have our snack in at prayer time.  We finished our special morning with Ms. Betsy joining us for music/singing time.

There is nothing better than seeing the kids actively participate, enjoying the moment, and truly understanding we have so much to be thankful for.  The children are amazing!!!

Kindergarten 10:45 Sunday School November 16, 2008

As we approach Thanksgiving, we started our 10:45 class with a "kick-off" "Feathers of Thanks" craft and game.  Each of the kids decorated beautiful sparkly feathers with what each felt thankful for and we "pinned the feather on the turkey"!!  Also, we wrapped up our Abraham series with the story of the marriage of Isaac and Rebekah.  Our verse this morning was based on the servant Eliezer, sent by Abraham to Haran, who prayed to the Lord to help him find a wife for Isaac (i.e., "The Lord Hears Me, When I Pray" Psalm 4:3.)
Special thanks to Tom, our helper, and Ms. Betsy who led us with special music time this morning!
